About Sentient Science

Sentient Science is a deep-technology company pioneering physics-informed AI to predict and extend the life of mission-critical mechanical systems. Through its DigitalClone platform, Sentient integrates materials science, first-principles physics, and advanced machine learning to simulate how components such as bearings, gears, and drivetrains degrade under real-world operating conditions. By modeling failure from the material microstructure upward, Sentient enables organizations to anticipate failure before damage begins—unlocking dramatically improved uptime, longer asset life, and more intelligent lifecycle management across critical infrastructure.

Originally developed through U.S. government and defense programs—including work with the U.S. Navy, U.S. Army, and U.S. Air Force—Sentient’s technology is grounded in more than two decades of scientific research and protected by 13 patents covering friction, lubrication, material microstructure, and fatigue behavior.
Unlike traditional predictive maintenance solutions that rely primarily on statistical correlations from sensor data, Sentient’s physics-informed AI models the root causes of degradation inside the material itself. This enables earlier, more explainable predictions of failure and allows engineers to intervene before defects propagate into costly downtime or catastrophic system failure.

Today, Sentient works with leading organizations across aerospace, defense, energy, and advanced manufacturing to transform how high-value assets are designed, manufactured, and maintained. With a team of highly specialized scientists and engineers and a portfolio of government and commercial contracts, Sentient represents a rare combination of deep science, validated technology, and real operating revenue.
As industries increasingly seek to move from reactive maintenance to predictive infrastructure, Sentient is building the foundational intelligence layer that allows critical systems to be designed smarter, operated longer, and maintained with far greater precision.

The company’s customer base includes Shell, Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, Rolls-Royce, NASA, Booz Allen, and Liberty Power, the US Army, the US Air Force, the US Navy, and the Department of Energy.

Problem statement

Industries that rely on mission-critical mechanical systems—such as aerospace, defense, energy, and heavy industry—face enormous costs and operational risk from unexpected equipment failures.
Most organizations still rely on reactive maintenance or limited predictive analytics, which cannot accurately forecast how complex mechanical components degrade over time. Traditional monitoring systems depend on historical data or sensor thresholds, often detecting problems only after damage has already begun.
As a result, companies face three major challenges:
Unplanned downtime that disrupts operations and can cost millions of dollars per incident
Excessive maintenance costs caused by replacing parts too early or performing unnecessary inspections
Limited visibility into true component health, especially for critical systems such as bearings, gearboxes, and drivetrains
This challenge is growing as modern systems become more complex and operate under increasingly demanding conditions. Current tools cannot reliably predict how materials and components will behave under real-world stress, leaving organizations forced to choose between risking catastrophic failure or overspending on preventive maintenance.
The market needs a way to accurately predict the life and failure of mechanical systems before damage occurs, enabling organizations to optimize reliability, reduce costs, and safely extend asset life.

Updates

Sentient’s DigitalClone technology has been applied in U.S. Navy programs to model and predict the life of critical drivetrain components used in military aircraft. We have just completed the phase 1 and are proposing phase two in April of 2026.
