Founded in 2017, RedShift Energy aims to revolutionize waste gas conversion into valuable feedstocks for the oil & gas and petrochemical industries. With support from the National Science Foundation and the Department of Energy, RedShift has developed cutting-edge platform technologies. Our technology has produced five generations of modular systems for hydrogen recovery from H2S and syngas production from CO2. We are now ready to scale and commercialize our pilot ready sixth-generation H2S system and rapidly expand our syngas program, as well as extend the technologies into water and crude oil treatment.

Industry Challenges

• Need for Low-Cost, Low-Carbon Hydrogen: The oil & gas and petrochemical sectors require cost-effective, low-carbon hydrogen sources and efficient CO2 management solutions.
• Outdated Refinery H2S Management: Traditional methods are costly and fail to recover hydrogen. Existing high-capex Claus systems are outdated and inefficient.
• Well pad H2S Management: Scavengers and acid gas injection methods are costly and are uneconomic at high H2S levels. Extensive flaring wastes high value natural gas.
• Opportunity in CO2 Conversion: Captured CO2 can be converted into valuable syngas, avoiding the high costs of sequestration.
• Water Cooling Towers use more than 25% of all processed water, and use significant quantities of chemicals to maintain efficiency, none of which is allowed to be reintroduced into the municipal systems for reuse. Non-chemical treatment can reduce water usage and cost of disposal.

• Growing Hydrogen Demand: Increasing at 6% annually.
• Untapped H2S Waste Streams: 96 refineries and over 400 gas processing plants destroy over 2 million tons of hydrogen annually, equivalent to 25% of current U.S. hydrogen demand.
• In Texas, over 9,000 wells are flaring more than up to 8 billion mcf of high sulfur natural gas annually.
• There are more than 2 million cooling towers in the US, and data centers each will use over 100 million gallons of water per year

• From 50%-93% H2S concentration. No issues from CO2, CH4, BTEX
• Dry Reform CO2 into Syngas: For use in petrochemical and synthetic jet fuel production.
• Advanced Oxidation of water as a non-chemical biocide to reduce wastewater

Facility Opening

Commissioned our H2S handling lab and testing center in Warminster, PA. This includes safety and gas handling equipment to process H2S, methane, and other common petroleum and petrochemical industry gases at well pilot scale.
